K is for Katniss Everdeen

With a past filled with hardship, Katniss has become a survivor. She's independent, lethal, and thinks outside the box. She's a reluctant hero, but if you mess with those she loves, watch out. I just love butt-kicking heroines and Katniss is the queen of them all.

"No one will forget me. Not my look, not my name. Katniss. The girl who was on fire."

Do you like Katniss? Tell me some of your favorite "K" characters.

Katniss rocks, she has to go through a lot in the trilogy.

Kingsley Shacklebolt from Harry Potter is a wonderful 'K' character. And his voice in the movies, perfect. Also he was such a loyal person and fought for what he believed in.

Katniss is an amazing character. A little sad ending, but she gets a giant two thumbs up!

Katniss is a girl full of determination. Would rather be her friend than enemy! Loved the Hunger Games.

I've not read the books yet, but I'm all for strong female role models in YA.

Katniss is a great character, and I thought Jennifer Lawrence did an awesome job in the movie. :)

Yes, Katniss. She's a kick-a** girl. Collins did a great job creating her many many layers. I <3 Hunger Games.

Katniss was definitely a reluctant hero, even too reluctant for my taste at times. Still, I cheered for her all the way even as I yelled at the book: "Do something, already!"

Katniss is all the rage in my house. A strong, tough girl who can take care of herself and is an avid archer? Yep. She is made of awesome sauce. My girls have found themselves totally sold on the character of Katniss, hook, line and sinker.

Perfect quote for her :)

I do like Katniss. I was disappointed that in the last book, when Katniss finally experiences the smothering depression her mother had gone through, that there wasn't some compassion.

I didn't care for the movie, but I heard the books are much, much better.

I love Katniss. She is a much better character in my opinion than the character Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar for. My humble opinion.

I love Katniss! :)

I love that she was so complex at times - strong but reluctant, hard edged but tender with her sister, etc. One of my favorite female characters for sure.

Such a tough character. The author was so smart to surround Katniss with Prim and Peeta when she could to help the reader endear to her more because of her love for them.
