My Personality

I've never taken a personality test before, but recent posts from Donna on the topic piqued my curiosity. I took the Kiersey Personality Sorter and turns out I'm an INFJ, or Idealist Counselor. Yeah. I didn't know what that meant either. Turns out Gandhi, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Emily Bronte were in this category, and that we INFJ's are pretty scarce in society.

You can find detailed results here, but basically I like my solitude, am intuitive, and I like to help others with their problems or nurture their potential. I don't like superficial interactions, am concerned with how others feel, and have a talent for poetic language. Ha! And the best jobs for my personality: clergy, social worker, teacher, or novelist. Seeing how I have a teaching degree and, well--write, I think I'm doing pretty good.

How about you...have you ever taken a personality test? Like to be alone or around others? Do you work at a job you love?

Bonus: it turns out my personality is prone to psychic ability. I feel it in my bones :)

I love these tests, but I haven't done one in years! I am an Idealist Champion, whatever that means lol!

I've always wanted to do a personality test, but usually the 'good' ones cost money. So I've never done it. It'd be fun to see though. This sounds like it would be a good one to do. I like how they give examples of other prominent people who are/were like you.

Oh, what a cool post!! All of the results you received are good ones; I can see you fitting into this category very well.

I don't think there is a category to fit a whacko like me, but I might give it a try, just to see. LOL

It's awesome that I know what that test is. And yeah. I can see the Idealist Counselor in you. :)

I have, but I can never remember what my four letters are. I did, however, take it in high school Honors English. My teacher looked over all the results and told our class that someone had the same letters as him. He had everyone guess, and after about 10 failed tries, someone guessed me, and it WAS me. That was SO embarrassing. I didn't think I was like him at all...oh well. Maybe that's why I've forgotten. I've suppressed that embarrassing moment!

I'm an ENFP so I'm also an idealist, but I like to keep everyone happy. You better not fight around me or I'll have a heart attack.

Also, I love Tegan and Sarah! :)

I love personality tests. The ones I take are usually consistent. For example, I took this same one back in June 2010 and again today. The results were the same--ISTJ. I am a Guardian Inspector. Sometimes I will be ESTJ because I think I am borderline extrovert-introvert. A few years ago I took a class called Mothering Styles. The teacher used personality types to explain the way we parent and encourage mothers to play to their strengths. Fascinating stuff.

I don't think I've ever taken one. I love Tegan & Sara. ;)

Suzanne-It doesn't take too long. You should do it.

Kyra-Go Idealists!

Suzi-This one's free, so there's nothing to lose.

Jaybird-Haha. I'm sure even your crazies can be quantified. :)

David-I hope that's a good thing. :)

Emily-That would be sooo embarrassing for a teen.

Jennie-Haha. I love them too! See? I'm happy. Calm down. :)

Lindsay-I thought about you when I took this because I know you're into personality tests. :)

Jenny-Do it. It's free and pretty fascinating. Tegan & Sara opened for the Killers back in November...they were awesome!

I love personality tests! I haven't taken one in a long time. I'm totally going to take this one...in a few days when I'm not so insanely busy. I'll let you know the results! Also, I think it would be pretty cool to make my characters take personality tests. :-) I'm seriously considering this.

Oooo . . . psychic. How cool is that?

The fascinating thing I find about the Kiersey is it's workplace applications. I used to work at my local bishops storehouse (a church run food pantry that also had a cannery for the church to make its own canned goods). Now, this place is for the needy and for people helping the needy. My immediate boss and two of the supervisors (there were only 7 paid employees) all tested the same on the Kiersey. Their personality types were in the smaller percentages of people and yet they'd all managed to gravitate toward a service-oriented profession--which fit their personalities.

Katie-It only takes a few minutes. I'm curious to see what your results are. Having your characters take personality tests is brilliant!

Donna-That is so interesting about the workplace. I'd love to see how many writers have similar personalities.

Johanna-I don't see your comment up here but I got it in my email...or maybe I'm just psychic. O_O Haha. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm an idealist teacher. Go figure.

I took the Kiersey after talking to Donna, too! I ended up with ENFJ, but it came very close to being INFJ. I can work a crowd, but whew! I need time alone to recharge. ;)

I have taken personality tests before, but I always wonder how correct they are for me. Half of the questions I'd probably answer differently on another day, or at a different time of day. I think I see myself in all of them in some ways, and in none of them in some ways. But that doesn't mean I don't love taking them! :) (That probably says something about my personality. Hmmm...)

I'd be close but that last item blows me out of the water! Need to take that test.

Fun! Sounds like you're living your ideal life!

I did this for one of my classes once. I think I was ENFJ, but I don't honestly remember. They're kind of fun to do, though.

ilima said...

Kate- What a great person you are! :)

Carrie-No kidding. I can get claustrophobic if I'm around people for too long. I need my space sometimes.

Peggy-Haha. I can see that. There must be a category for you somewhere, right?

Alex-The psychic ability? Ha! Just call me Shawn Spencer.

Ali-I'm doing what I love, that's for sure.

Nicole-It was pretty fun!

Tammy Theriault said...

i will have to do this, fun fun!!

Stina said...

You sound exactly like me, which means I don't have to take the test. :D

ilima said...

Tammy-Do it!

Stina-Haha. You're welcome.

Cortney Pearson said...

That sounds fantastic! Now I'm curious what my results would be...

And I love that you're prone to psychic ability!! :-p

Leigh Covington said...

LOVE IT! Especially that you're prone to psychic ability. OOH! That's awesome! :) I've done these before but it's been forever and was usually the color test. I'm a red/yellow mix. I want to take this test though. This stuff is so cool. :)

ilima said...

Cortney-I knew you were going to say that. Weird. Haha.

Leigh-I've never heard of the color test. I'll have to check it out.

Your post was so interesting I decided to take the test myself. Here's my results: http://www.keirsey.com/sorter/personal_page.aspx

Sheena-kay-That's so cool!

I love that NOVELIST is on there for jobs that fit you. It's spot on! I always worry about these tests. Sometimes I just don't know how to answer the questions because it seems like my mood is can skew the answer, and I'm always in a different mood when I take them. O.o
