Top Ten Movie Countdown

Here is the countdown of my top ten favorite movies:

10. Ladyhawke--A fantasy of forbidden love with Matthew Broderick and Michelle Pfeiffer...um, yes please.

9. Whale Rider--Overcoming tradition and fulfilling your destiny...LOVE this movie about a girl longing for love and acceptance.

8. Inception--I remember sitting in the theater watching Eclipse and wishing I could be in the next room watching Inception again. Everything a great mind-bending sci-fi should be.

7. The Village--Yes, I'm a big fan of M. Night Shyamalan. *ducks tomatoes* But come on, Lucius Hunt. *swoons*

6. Sweet Land--An indie-film about immigrant America...beautiful beautiful film (and love story)!

5. V for Vendetta--I've only seen an edited version of this, but if you're looking for a girl-power dystopian that will resonate for a long time...this is it.

4. Serenity--I'm cheating because really I want to put "Firefly" here, but it's not a movie. :)

3. Last of the Mohicans--I think I've seen this movie a hundred times. And no, I'm not exaggerating. I can recite Every Single Line from the movie.

2. Warrior--Who knew a story about Mixed Martial Arts could make me cry buckets every time I watch it?

1. Pride & Prejudice--The Keira Knightly version. The cinematography is insane, the music beautiful, and Mr. Darcy's long walk in the sunrise to proclaim his love...how can you go wrong?

Do you like any of these movies? Tell me your favorites in the comments. And go here to see who else is participating in the blogfest.

Two of these movise are favourites of mine: Ladyhawke and Last of the Mohicans. Thank you for introducing me to some others which look great. (I don't get out much--haha,)

the Village and Ladyhawke two fantasy films... wonderful choices. I got to see an early screening of Ladyhawke back in high school, I think I found my friends on that day...

'Ladyhawke', 'Mohicans', and 'Inception', and Pride and Prejudice; I love all four but forgot to include them on my list. Great choices

I, like Faraway, love all of your choices but didn't include them on my list. Last of The Mohicans, P&P, Ladyhawke- those are all some of my favorites too. Of course, I'm not really surprised we have the same taste, :)

What an awesome list! Inception is certainly making the rounds today.

Btw, you won. Check my place for details. :)

You have excellent taste:D Last of the Mohicans is one of my all time fans.(as is firefly *cough* I mean Serenty) I love Sweet Land-I bet I know who introduced you this this one... and we adore Ladyhawk.

I'm a big Steve Carell fan-Crazy Stupid Love and Dan in Real Life are 2 of my current favorites, along with While You were Sleeping, Zoolander, Tommy Boy, and The Wedding Singer.

Fun blog hop.

Francene-Yay! I'm glad.

Jeremy-I'm glad someone else out there in the universe likes The Village. :)

Farawayeyes-Ooh, glad you love them.

Jaybird-I'm not surprised either. :)

David-I can't believe I'm getting zombified! Thank you sooo much. Woot!

Robin-We have While You Were Sleeping coming via Netflix this week because I realized my kids have never seen it. Fixing that tragedy asap. :)

Pat-I knew those tomatoes would come out for that one, haha.

Curse Blogger! It keeps eating my comments.

What a great list! Many of these are long-time favorites of mine, as well. Yay for Sweet Land! And I really want to watch Ladyhawke again. I only have vague memories of loving it as a child.

I wish I would have known about this blog hop. Such fun!

So many good choices there. Seriously. I keep seeing people's selection and thinking I should have included some of theirs. lol

Ladyhawke was awesome and I really enjoyed that as well as The Village (even though I figured it out halfway through) :)

Al Diaz said...

A lot of good ones you've got here. V for Vendetta almost made my list as well. Excellent movie!

As a Jane Austean fan I have watched all the films based on her books and although the recent version is quite acceptable, the BBC one with Collin Firth as Mister Darcy...is absolutely stunning.

ilima said...

Katie-Thanks for introducing me to Sweetland, although my husband would probably say differently. :)

Donna-I know, me too!

Mark-That's what I get for being clueless, I don't catch on to the hints and enjoy the surprise. :)

Al-I know, right? So powerful.

Unikorna-That one's a good second place for me (I know most of the world agrees with you).

Serenity and Inception! Very cool. Last of the Mohicans just missed my top list. It's a Michael Mann masterpiece.
Thanks for participating in my blogfest!

Inception was trippy but awesome! I must watch LadyHawke.

I knew I forgot to add Ladyhawke to my list.

There's something about Pride and Prejudice that I will always enjoy - it's such a good story!

Jessie Humphries said...

I think you and I must have vastly different tastes in movies, because I've only seen one of those...Inception. Which I totally loved. :)

Jenny S. Morris said...

Love Inception and Serenity. My husband's obsessed with V for Vendetta and I've passed by Warriors because it's about fighting but I'll have to check it out! Thanks. ;0)

Katie Dunn said...

Great list! Man, it's been forever since I've seen Ladyhawke or Last of the Mohicans, and I can't believe I forgot about V for Vendetta!
Also, I'm with you on Firefly/Serenity. Love them both=)

ilima said...

MJ-It never gets old, does it?

Jessie-Now I'm dying to know what your favorite movies are.

Jenny-Warrior is an amazing movie about characters more than fighting...great for writers.

Kathleen-Yay for Firefly and Serenity! I wish there were more!

Inception, Anything M. Night and V are all great choices.

I have met people who would tase M. Night but I like all his films. Call me bizarre (but do it quietly).

Nice list!

Courtney Barr - The Southern Princess said...

Pride & Prejudice should have been on my list....ARGH! 10 is just too hard... ;o)

Great list!

Emily Genther said...

I'm an M. Night fan as well, although his latest endeavors are nothing to speak of. I think all the trash talking people did got to him and he was finally like, "Fine, if you think I make crappy movies now, wait until you see this. You'll be begging for the stuff I used to make!"

Trisha said...

I love all of the movies on this list that I've seen - wouldn't mind seeing the rest. As for P&P, I still love the Colin Firth version, but I haven't seen this one so I will have to. I have mixed feelings though 'cause I'm not a huge Keira Knightly fan.

ilima said...

Chuck-We can both be bizarre together because I like all his films too. :)

Courtney-It was so hard bringing it down to ten!

Emily-Poor guy. Just let the guy make his movies already. People don't have to watch them.

Trisha-The Colin Firth version was my favorite for a long time until my mom made me watch this one. I can watch it over and over again and don't think I'll ever tire of it.

Ah, Pride and Prejudice. I need to buy some more ice cream and watch that soon.

Leigh Covington said...

Totally agree with #1! I can't get enough of that show!

ilima said...

Connie-It is!

Chantele-I love the music in that one too.

Emily-Mmm. You had me at ice cream.

Adriana-Yay for P&P!

Gina-Yay!

Julie-Cool, I'm gonna go check yours out.

Leigh-My favoritest ever!

ok, in all seriousness, i heart warrior for the sweaty sexy men...especially tom, yummmmm!!

Oh my! All the alliteration at the beginning of V for vendetta is so amazing. Inception blew my mind. It was so awesome.

I love your list, though most of the movies didn't make it to mine. :3
