I'm Back

Did you miss me? Ha! You probably didn't even notice I was gone, did you? I took a bloggy break to focus on writing this summer but get this--I think I was more productive when I was blogging. Go figure. So I'm back with a new bloggy schedule...

Monday Mama: In which I share what's been going on in my other life....as in my wife and mama life. Never fear, these posts will have a writerly twist and will NOT be about shoving cute pics of my kids down your throat. Much.

Wednesday Writer: In which I share tips, thoughts, questions, insecurities, etc. all to do with that thing that makes us insane happy...writing.

Friday Fanatic: In which I share what I love be it books, movies, music or brand of laundry detergent. If I'm a fan, I'll divulge. Again, with a writerly twist.

I may or may not be posting EVERY Mon-Wed-Fri (how do you do it, Alex???) but when I do post, it'll be on these topics. Cover reveals, blog tours, blog hops, etc. are sure to pop in a long the way, too. Wish me luck!

Since it's Friday...

This week I discovered these:

My whole family is devouring them and at 35 calories a wedge, I don't feel guilty about spreading it all over my whole wheat bagel for breakfast with my lox. Yum! For a diet food...it's surprisingly delish!

This makes me think of a lot comments I've heard about YA fiction. How it's dumbed down, all fluff, cliched, for weak writers/readers, etc. Do you remember all the guff Twilight got from people who didn't even read it?

Don't judge until you've tasted. Because you might end up saying for a YA novel...it's surprisingly awesome! And I'm willing to bet the more you read, the 'surprising' just might fall away leaving you with just plain awesome.

Have you ever judged a book you've never read? If so, why? The genre? Author? Page count? Cover?

Welcome back and I did notice you gone! I came by here yesterday just to confirm I wasn't missing your posts.
I don't do it all the time - right now I'm skipping Fridays. And enjoying it!

Welcome back!
I like your MM, WW, and FF-looking forward to more of it.
The one book that comes to mind that I judged without reading is 50 Shades. And no, I'm not going to read it to see if I change my mind:)

I like when people are excited about something - book, movie, etc - and share it. :)

I read a lot of YA but I tend toward the more serious, darker, dystopian subject matter. Hey, a good story, well-written is a good story, well-written, whether for MG, YA or Adult. :)

Oh, and I love those cheese wedges! :)

Welcome back! Your blog schedule looks fun! Can't wait to see what you share. :)
I love YA. :) There is a wide range from fluff to utterly amazing. (And, hey, what's wrong with fluff?) :)

Yes, I have judged epic high fantasy books by their cover, b/c high fantasy just seems too far out for me. But guess what? I've never tried to read one yet. What if I like it and I've been missing out all these years?

I totally know what you mean with being more productive when blogging! Too funny.

And Ilima, you're killing me here with the cheese... now I must have it...

I'm sure I've judged before--though I can't think of anything in particular right now!

I adore Laughing Cow. My fave is to spread it on Triscuit crackers - either the rosemary or cracked pepper flavors. YUM!

Love those cheese wedges. I eat them with pretzels. Yum!

Glad to have you back, Ilima! Some of my all time favorite books are YA, before it was even a genre. Little Women, anyone?

I judged a book very harshly by it's cover once but only because a fan was toting it on their blog and after hearing all about the fantasy and magic the cover turned out to be a shack surrounded by bushes. Seriously I mean like someone went outside, found a shack surrounded by bushes, took a picture and said hey this is an awesome cover for a fantasy novel. So yeah, I didn't bother getting it because the author treated their cover so poorly.

Anyway glad you're back and people are always saying something bad about YA without checking it out themselves. Phooey on them. Oh and I gave you a Sisterhood Blog Award on my blog today. Congrats!

I have a difficult time posting once a week. I should probably add one more day during the week, just have too much going on. Blast! I like your idea for each days posts. They sound fun, for sure.
I love the Swiss cheesy things. I just ate one yesterday at work with some Ritz crackers. Numms

Hey, we like to see pictures of the kids. :)

I haven't tried the light creamy swiss, I'll have to do that. Low cal, but if I eat five, then... not so much. :)
