Ilima's Favorite Things

I'm gonna go totally Oprah today and share some of my current favorite things.

Warm Bodies. It's been out just over a week and I've already seen it twice. That's how much I love this movie that poses as a zombie film but is really a chick flick. I laughed a lot, swooned over Nicholas Hoult, and reveled in the amazing music. Go and watch it.

Title To Come. Because we writers need another distraction online to keep us from actually writing. Check it out here.

Smooth Dining Table. Tabletops with a million grooves in the surface should not exist. Ever. Most especially if you have small children--the clean-up is a nightmare. Which is why we gave ours away and now I'm crushing on my new smooth one. *bliss*

Nutella. Preferably straight from the bottle with a plastic spoon. Because who needs dirty dishes?

Transparent. I got to read this ARC from the amazing Natalie Whipple. Pitched as X-Men meets The Godfather. Um, yes please. It was as awesome as it sounds. Add it to your TBR pile. It comes out 5/21. And in case you missed it last week, here is Natalie showing off her awesome dance moves--PSY style.

Liquid Chalk. It makes the chalkboard in my writing room so pretty with inspirational quotes...or what we're having for dinner.

Amazon Prime. 'Nuff said.

Birdy. I don't normally like covers of songs I like, but this 15-year-old musical genius blows me away with her amazing covers. Just, wow.

What are some of your favorite things? Let me know in the comments, and the three people to blow me away with their genius will get a genuine Transparent bookmark. See? I'm totally like Oprah.

Some of my favourite things are traveling, going to concerts, and writing my poetry, though some think it's a no go I enjoy doing it. Last but not least is my love of music ...all kinds I find it very relaxing.

Yvonne.

I'm dying to see Warm Bodies! I LOVE your table and I love Birdy too. Good choices!

My daughter is dying to see Warm Bodies (sorry about that unintended and bad pun)! Just not sure if it's age appropriate or not. And yes, your smooth table is beautiful!

Liquid chalk - that's new to me.
You could always give away the children. Or is that legal?

Nutella-yum. Here's a suggestion if you like smores. But winter isn't smores season, at least here.

2 graham crackers.
nutella
that marshmallow puff in a jar (cause then you don't have to back it long to melt it)

Bake in over for a bit to melt them a little. Yummm.

Aww, man. I was hoping there would be a new dining room table under each of our chairs, Oprah! LOL

Fun post, Ilima! :) Is it weird that I've never had Nutella?

Transparent looks interesting. The premise reminds me of Robert Cormier's FADE.

I love Scrivener. It has transformed how I write (and outline)

Yvonne-I love that you don't care what others think and write what you want.

Jennie-You'll have to tell me how you liked it when you do see it.

Johanna-I took my 13 y.o. and she thought it was super cute. There are a few swear words and some intense scenes, but overall I was surprised how clean and gore-less it was. Definitely a zombie film for the masses and not horror fans.

Alex-It was a toss-up between the kids and the table. I opted for the legal route.

Suzi-Omigosh. I'm totally gonna try that.

Carrie-Yes, that is weird. You'll love it!

Jay-I tried Scrivener and didn't like it. I'm not sure why.

I want to see that movie so bad! And I can't wait to read Transparent. LOVE that song! Birdy's great!

Is there enough exclamation marks yet? LOL.

I'm not gonna lie...I kind of want to see Warm Bodies too. :)

I've been trying to get the book Beautiful Creatures (at affordable price, I refuse to spend more than $1500 on one book) in Jamaica and the book's finally at Bookophilia ($1038, perfect). Saturday will be a great day. Warm Bodies has been the movie I've been hopping about for months and hoping it will come to Jamaica next week. Really like your list.

Okay - I have had absolutely NO desire to see Warm Bodies. Is that awful or what? I think I'm the only one. But if you love it that much I'm going to check it out! :)

I have no desire in seeing Warm Bodies, but now I am thinking I should check it out! I want Twilight back! There will be nothing like it which is sad.

Jenny-You're gonna love them!!!!

Nicole-I think you'll be surprised how cute it is.

Sheena-kay-Ooh, you're gonna like Beautiful Creatures. I ALWAYS have to read the book before seeing a movie otherwise I'll never read it.

Leigh-I couldn't stop laughing the whole way through...the audience even clapped at the end. :)

Livia-Do it. It's more a romance than a zombie flick.

"I'm totally going to pull an Oprah" bahahaha. I love you.

My fav things are reading, writing, blogging, sitting on the beach and just chilling for hours in the warm sun. People watching at outdoor cafes with a cup of coffee (or a chocolate ice cream) road trips, listening to music (especially The Killers :) Oh, I could go on and on. But then, I'd be pulling an Oprah too. LOL

I want to see Warm Bodies. What a clever concept. Why didn't I think of that?

ilima said...

Jen-You know me all too well. As Nacho would say, "Everything you just said is my favorite thing to do--every day!" Haha.

Angie-Seriously. I came home from the movie just itching to write a zombie book.

Love these favorites! Great song, and I'm dying to see Warm Bodies! (No pun intended, ha ha.)

I totally missed Natalie's dance, but glad you linked to it! :D And I LOVE your table and can't wait to see it in real life! And I apparently need to see Warm Bodies. People keep talking about it. :)

WARM BODIES...Oh, how I want to see you. Hmmm. Favorite things. Hot, scalding baths. I haven't had one in a long time. Baths are better than showers in my book. Wish I had a bathtub. Umm, ELEMENTARY with Jonny Lee Miller. Love it. Love him. And last but not least, great writer friends (like you!) whom I can cry to one day and squee to the next--and you still love me. :-)

Hi Ilima.
I love the classic look of your dining suite!
Liquid chalk? Never heard of it before... off to Google it.

Since I'm so sick at the moment, I think being well is my favorite thing right now.

Emily R. King said...

I really need to see Warm Bodies. And I'm not even a zombie fan.

LOVE the table, and so jealous that you read TRANSPARENT already! I'm looking forward to it.

ilima said...

Cortney-You're gonna love that movie!

Michelle-I need to have you guys over soon. Seriously.

Katie-I thought you took your daughter to see it??? You are welcome to use my bathtub if you promise to clean it first. :) It's an infinity tub...deep and the water flows over the edge into river rocks and such. I'm more a shower person, so it doesn't get used as much as it deserves. :) Also, squeeeeee for you, my dear!

Michelle-It's like chalk, but liquid smooth...like restaurants/cafes use on their menu board.

Donna-I hope you get well soon!

Emily-I think you'll like Warm Bodies AND Transparent. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Lol! I feel like a Nutella shopping fiend. It disappears so fast in our household.
As for my favorite things: - a fluffy blanket in front of a crackling fire. Sitting in the grass, drinking an ice tea under a shade tree.
