Stylish Blogger Award

A huge thanks to Cassie Mae for giving me the Stylish Blogger Award. Word is, I'm to share seven random facts about moi, then pass the award along to five blogger buddies. So, here goes...

1. I have a waterfall in every book I've written (four books). There's also strong Polynesian ties in every book I've written. So far.

2. When I'm just sitting around reading or watching a movie, I drape an arm over my head until all the blood rushes out. And then I switch to the other arm. And I HAVE to sit cross-legged on my chair when I write at the computer or eat at the dinner table.

3. I think Brandon Flowers is a rock genius. I am eagerly stalking all Killers related news of their new album coming out this fall. Squee.

4. My favorite snack is a slice of brie over a Nature Valley granola bar, you know, the one in the green wrapper. Don't diss it 'til you've tried it. Yum. (And yes, do keep that moldy white stuff on the cheese as you eat it...that's the best part).

5. I can easily sing the alphabet song backwards. Also calculate things in my head at a mind-numbing rate.

6. I am an obsessed Firefly/Serenity fan-nerd. Best show in all the 'verse. Joss Whedon is a story-telling genius. Shiny.

7. It takes A LOT to get me to read past book one in a series. (HP and the Chamber of wha???) And I rarely read a book twice. There are a few treasures I reread every year, though: Pride and Prejudice, Impossible, Keturah and Lord Death, Speaker for the Dead, and Goose Girl. I guess it makes those my top five favs. Stephanie Perkins might be added to that list soon...have you read Anna and Lola yet? Brilliant stuff.

I am passing the Stylish Blogger Award along to:

Jaybird
Leslie Pugh
Cortney Pearson
Em-Musing
Kate Coursey

Happy Blogging!

Congrats on the award. So do you intentionally include waterfalls in your work or is it a subconscious thing (I like waterfalls)

I'm also a big Firefly/Serenity fan. I'm also a big Castle fan, so I might have a Nathan Fillion thing going on at present...lol

Wow-shocked to see my name up there. Thanks for passing this award my way. Really appreciate it.

OK I'm loving this list- All things Polynesian, LOVE. I'm obsessed with The Killers too. They appear on my WIP playlist five times...Brie is amazing. I eat those moldy bits with apples all the time, LOL. Might have to give your combo a try... And Joss Whedon is genious. Loved him since he wrote one of my fav shows of all time, Buffy!

Congrats for winning. Your blog does have a great style, starting with the artistic background full with flowers. It's nice that you put Polynesia in your novels. My dream is one day to visit Thaiti. It's so differnt that the urban setting around me. I've tried draping my arm over my head, not sure if I'm doing it correctly. The actor at the poster of Firefly is at Castle on ABC Mondays. Have a wonderful week.

Congrats on the award. You are stylish:)
Love that I learned more about you that I didn't already know from this post. And Firefly/Serenity-SO genius. And your books-I reread all of those but Speaker for the Dead.

Oh, I love all these things that make you, you, Ilima. I knew most of these things, but not number 2. And I didn't realize number 7 was so set in stone. Did you really not read the rest of the Harry Potter books! What the???? I started with number 3 (one of the best), then read through 5, then read 1-5 (so I could work in books 1 and 2 somehow), then read 6 and 7 as they came out. Books 1 and 2 are really fun, but way different in tone and depth than the rest of the books. Congrats on your Stylish Blogger award!!!

Thanks Ilima! I've never seen Firefly, but I do love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I definitely think Joss Whedon is a genius. And did you never finish Harry Potter?

DRC-I didn't even notice the waterfall thing until one of my CP's pointed it out, so I guess it's subconscious. :) My mom LOVES Castle. I haven't seen it yet, though.

Jaybird-I always knew you were my sistah from another mistah. :) Buffy is awesome, I love brie with apples too. My husband promised me a Killers concert after this new album...I can't wait.

Giora-I've yet to see Castle but I've heard great things. And the arm thing is weird, I know.

Robin-That's me...so full of style. Ha! You know me in real life so we can just laugh about the style thing in a few weeks. I guess Speaker for the Dead is kind of the odd ball of the group, isn't it?

Katie-I didn't realize #7 was so set until I was writing about it for this post, actually. There are so many good books that I LOVE, but for some reason I don't get sick of rereading those. Go figure.

Kate-Buffy is great too. I have a really hard time reading a book AFTER seeing the movie, and I think that's why I didn't finish the HP series. My husband listens to it all the time so I catch bits and pieces, but since I know the story, the thrill of discovery is lost for me. I still think J.K. and the whole story is wonderful, though.

What's really funny is that I almost always pre-order, reserve, whatever the second in a series if I liked the first. I'm a series addict.

Suzi said...

I love NV granola bars. I love cheese. But never thought to mix the two. Might have to try it sometime. But I don't buy brie very often, so I'll have to add it too my list. :)

Tasha-haha. I always make sure to order just the first cause I never know... :)

Suzi-It's worth the special purchase, trust me.

Carrie-You can't take the sky from me! :)

Jolene-You got a wife? How come I only got that dumbass stick 'sounds like it's raining?

Martin-Because the network peeps are a bunch of Yi Da Dwei Bun Chou Roh.

Tracey-"Tis the season for awards, methinks. Thanks so much!

Fun, fun, fun!

I loooooove the KILLERS... Brandon pulls off feathers like no other manly man can! LOL. He's so cool. So fun to read more about you, Ilima! :D

Thanks for the blogger award! I'm so excited!

I love your list! The waterfalls especially. There is something so magical about waterfalls.

And your series thing cracks me up! I am a series addict myself and if I fall in love with the first book, I HAVE to buy or check out the second book And sometimes even if the second disappoints I have to keep reading just because I have to know the end to the series!

ilima said...

Morgan-I know. He is incredible. Love love love the Killers.

Leslie-Waterfalls really are magical. All of my childhood/teen fantasies seem to congregate around Laie falls or Sacred falls. Lol.

Emily R. King said...

Joss Whedon is my hero. LOVE that guy!

Congrats on the award!

Elana Johnson said...

Dude, I don't even know what to respond to first. The weird cross-legged thing? The making your arm go numb thing? The brie and granola bar thing? Just too many things!

But I love Firefly. LOVE IT.

ilima said...

Emily-Thanks! Do you think he realizes how many people worship him?

Elana-Ha. Bacon lip balm. That's all I have to say to that. :)
